You know which ad we’re talking about. You’ve heard it before. Your ears have bared through the pain of listening to it before the start of a movie – yep, it’s the acapella ad.
Cinemark has recently started playing a short version of the ad before the start of its movies. And a recent post on Reddit has seen thousands of people voice their own opinion on the ad itself, many pleading with Cinemark to take it down completely.
If you’re yet to see the full version, here it is in all its glory.
We tried to listen intently to the whole rendition to figure out the message they were trying to send through, but we simply couldn’t.
Reddit user – CyanShades – sums up the ad perfectly.
Nothing says “get ready for the gritty, dark, emotionally devastating world of Logan” like a bunch of teens singing loudly and flinging around popcorn at each other. This ad feels like the final obstacle you have to face before you’re allowed to see your film
However, we think some people are spending a bit too much time discussing the symbolism if the advertisement itself.
User – ZiggyOnMars – stated the following:
Watching this ads make me feel incredibly depressing and it made me feel like living in a 1984 dystonia that the movies and TVs don’t reflect the reality that the Big brother spoon feed optimism and brainless joy to his citizens.
We get the ad’s bad and may detract from the overall movie experience but conspiracy theories are next level!
