Yep – you read it right, AMC have recently released figures in which they project total sales of hot dogs over the coming summer to total around 15,840,000. Which, if laid out side by side, stretches and enormous 250 miles. How long is that? Enough to get you from Hollywood to the Hoover Dam!
They’ve also project popcorn sales to top out at around 8 million pounds or nearly 4 tonnes! Based on our movie popcorn calorie guide, brace yourself, this comes out to an astronomical 21,125,000,000 calories. Wait what? No, no waiting…only eating! It’s gonna take an army of movie lovers to gobble down over 21 BILLION calories of popcorn.
Fancy something to wash down the salty, buttery goodness? No worries. AMC are well stocked up on soft drinks and soda as they’ve also forecast to serve up over a billion ounces of Coca-Cola products. That’s more than enough fizzy drink to fill over 11 Olympic-sized swimming pools.

As you may or may not know, concession make up an extremely important component of movie theaters revenue and overall profits. Without them, many would not be able to survive due to the low margins on tickets. No surprise AMC is turning huge profits based on their concession prices!
However, it looks like AMC has definitely been doing something right, as they’re total concession revenue passed the $1 billion mark for the first time in 2016. Growing 12% from 2015, and an impressive 28% from 2014.
