Ice skating – one of the most elegant activities our species can undertake. Also one of the most dangerous, those skates they’re sliding on are razor sharp. And that’s why watching the sport is all the more entertaining.
Unfortunately, we can’t always tune in to watch it live on TV, which is why we head to the internet to get our fix. This time, we’re heading to Netflix.
Here are a few of the ice skating movies currently available on Netflix:

Skating to New York
Plot
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to skate across 25 miles of ice on one of the coldest Canadian days of the year? Wonder no more. Four Canadian high school mates and one kid brother have undertaken the task in this movie just for you.
Lake Ontario is their canvas, and their skates are the paintbrushes. Watch as they struggle through the harsh conditions on the ice to make it to one of the liveliest places in the world – New York.
The ratings aren’t overly positive for the film just a heads up. Daniel Gold from The New York Times had the following to say in his review:
No role is sketched out beyond brush strokes, and no relationship is meaningfully examined.

Ice Princess
Plot
We’re sticking with figure skating here. Ice Princess tells another tale of a girl longing to be a champion of the figure skating world.
With the help of a few folk including her mom, her coach, and the boy who drives the Zamboni machines, there’s few obstacles in her way that can stop her.
The movie was released in cinemas and, unfortunately, failed to make a profit. It did however, inspire Zahra Lari from the United Arab Emirates to start figure skating.
You want to know how much it inspired her? She’s currently on track to participate in the 2018 Winter Olympics.

Blades of Glory
Plot
Lastly, but most certainly not the least, we have the absolute classic – Blades of Glory. You know a combination of Will Ferrel and Will Arnett is going to mean good things.
Two enemies in the male figure skating world are forced to team up and take on the legends of the couples competition. Dirty tactics are had and there’s plenty of comedy thrown in throughout.
A must watch if you haven’t already done so. It pulled in a whopping $145 million in the box office, coming home with a tidy profit.
