New Movies 28th April 2017

New Movies – April 28, 2017

Only three new movies coming out this week! Quite a bit less than some of the mammoth 10-15 movies in one week we’ve previously seen.

Although, you’ll find some of the biggest A-list actors below including Emma Watson, Tom Hanks, Salma Hayek, Kristen Bell, Michael Cera, and Robe Lowe.

The Circle

Join Emma Watson and Tom Hanks as they star in a new release movie based on Dave Eggers 2013 book – The Circle. Mae Holland, a young woman currently employed at one of the most powerful social media/tech companies in the world, finds herself in a perilous situation concerning privacy, ethics, and ultimately – her personal freedom. She later discovers her decisions and actions will determine the fate of humanity.

It will first be screened at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 26th, 2017, and two days later will be released on screens around the country. Those in Germany will have to wait a few months to catch this one – it only comes out in September for them!

The Circle is the final screen appearance made by Bill Paxton, who unfortunately passed away in early 2017 due to complications during surgery.

Sleight

Sleight Poster

Set for a release on April 28th, 2017, following its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival over a year ago, WWE Studios and Blumhouse Tilt are the two companies behind the US distribution of the film.

Sleight follows the story of a street magician in LA (David Blaine anyone?) who finds himself in an unfavorable situation following his parent’s deaths. He’s forced to turn to illegal activities in order to keep a roof over his and his younger sister’s heads. Things take an extremely bad turn after his sister is kidnapped. How will the magician save her?

Bret Hankins from the Nerd Repository had the following to say:

An incredible debut that defies genre conventions at every turn, leading to a thrilling climax that will no doubt cement the film as one of the breakout hits of this year’s Sundance Film Festival.
