Shaw Theatres

Shaw Theatres Logo

Shaw Theatres can be dated all the way back to 1924, back when the Shaw Organisation was first founded by Tan Sri Runme. Tan and his brothers owned a film company titled Unique Film Productions where they produced silent films.

The company has come along way since its humble beginnings nearly 100 years ago. Today, Shaw is the leading distributor of international films in Singapore, representing some of the world’s largest film distributors. During the 10 years from 2005 to 2015, over 500 films were played on Shaw huge network of cinema locations.

Shaw also commands many of Singapore’s IMAX screens – allowing them to show only the best content for their loyal customers. Similar to Cathay Cineplex, Shaw also offers a high-end solution to the clients who choose.

Their Premiere ticket option, although higher priced, provides a movie experience you won’t ever forget. Even if you only try it once, we’d highly recommend giving it a shot. Customers who opt for the Premiere experience will be treated to luxurious leather seats with seat-service, an exquisite selection of drinks from the bar, and an extensive range of gourmet food to choose from. Of course, we can’t leave out the access to the exclusive bar, reserved for Premiere ticket holders.

Overall, Shaw respects its customers, which is why they always aim to provide the best movie experience possible in Singapore. As you can see, their ticket prices in the table above are well worth the value they provide.

Ticket Promotions and Deals

As with many other cinemas around the world, Shaw is definitely not shy with the promotions they offer. As of writing, Shaw is currently offering no less than 13 different promotions you can take advantage of on their website. Including four competitions on their social media pages for The Boss Baby. The Fate of the Furious, and Smurfs.

Some of the other promotions they’re currently running include:

  • $3 off your movie ticket when you buy with your Maybank Platinum Visa Card
  • If you’re with OCBC Bank, you can get $1 off your movie tickets
  • Buy 1, get 1 free when you purchase a movie ticket and show your SAFRA card
  • Every Sunday, simply show your latest M1 bill of show the M1 logo on your phone and get the second 2D movie ticket free

There is a range of terms and conditions for each of the promotions which you can read about here.

Popular Locations

As mentioned previously, Shaw Theatres currently owns and operates eight locations around Singapore. In fact, they only just recently opened their 8th location in early 2016. Shaw Theatres at Waterway Point features 11 of the most up-to-date cinema screens and a newly built IMAX screen as well. It’s been an absolute hit among the local movie-goers, and it’s shot to the top of one of Shaw’s most popular locations.

Shaw Cinemas Singapore

Here are some of Shaw’s most popular locations in 2017:

  • Shaw Theatres Lido – 4.2/5 from 591 reviews – 350 Orchard Road, 5th/6th Floor, Shaw House, Singapore 238868
  • Shaw Theatres Nex – 4.1/5 from 81 reviews – 23 Serangoon Central, #04-64, NEX Mall, NEX, Singapore 556083
  • Shaw Theatres Waterway Point – 4.3/5 from 163 reviews – 83 Punggol Central, B2-11, Waterway Point, Singapore 828761
  • Shaw Theatres Balestier – 3.7/5 from 61 reviews – 360 Balestier Road #04-04, Shaw Plaza, Singapore 329783

As you can see, their latest and greatest cinema at Waterway Point has proved a hit. It’s currently rated as the most satisfactory location of all their eight locations.

Here’s what a few of the reviewers had to say:

This theatre is really good. Much much better than GV’s cinemas in general. Their seats and walkway are much spacious. I think their sound system and projector screens are better too. – Derek Poh

Favourite place to watch movies in Singapore. Great cinemas, comfy seats. A bit expensive and very busy however. But centrally located and high quality. Be warned, some of the rooms are glacial: bring jumper or throw/blanket! – Jude

There were a number of people advising the aircon is usually turned up pretty high! So be sure to bring a jumper just in case. Nothing’s worse than an uncomfortable seating environment.

Overall, we can almost guarantee you’ll enjoy the movie at any of the Shaw location unless of course, the movie itself isn’t to your tasting. Shaw provides only the best cinema technology along with employees trained to provide the highest customer satisfaction possible.

All of this, combined with their low ticket prices (especially for students and seniors!), allows Shaw to maintain its position as one of the leading cinema chains in Singapore.
